If you have just changed out the cutter motor/blade or are having issues with the thickness of the lenses continue with the following steps.
- Check to ensure that the blade is inserted fully into the motor chuck.
- Pull a semi-finished single vision polycarbonate lens, either 3/4/5 base.
- Enter a job into VLP(typically job #1) with a plano Rx and select the correct lens and base curve.
- Block the lens as normal.
- Process the lens on the generator.
- After the lens has been generated, remove the lens and de-block the lens.
- Measure the center thickness of the lens using the lens thickness calipers. Compare this measurement with the designated lens thickness from the 2G screen for that job.
- If there is a difference in thickness, proceed to step 9. If not, submit a lab support ticket.
- Tap setup on the keypad and go to the calibration screen.
- Using the arrows, go down to 'Lens Thickness Bias'.
- Once highlighted, you will be prompted to enter the password. 082379
- Write down the current thickness bias number.
- Using the tool tip at the bottom of the screen, you can adjust the bias. This number is in millimeters so if you need to increase the thickness by .8mm, you will decrease the bias number by .80mm. The same goes for decreasing the lens thickness, only you decrease the thickness bias by the difference. Be sure to exit back to the job screen so you do not accidentally enter numbers into the calibration screen.
- After adjusting the thickness bias, you should be able to start processing lenses. You can run an additional lens to verify your calibration was successful.
